May 27, 2010 Great day on the water today. I hosted three of the craziest guys you could imagine.
We got kind of a late start but once we found the fish it was on! Soaking Croakers over the mid bay reefs in East
Bay we landed some great trout with more than half measuring over the 20 inch mark with a couple going around 25. We
even drifted into a school of reds. Only one made it to the boat, but the action was intense. The day ended with
16 specks, 1 red and a few nice sandies. Pics to come. Capt Fred George www.baybound.com
MAY 19, 2010 The winds switched more out of the south this morning and were blowing 15+.
I headed back to our sectret hole. We were the first boat in the water and quickly made it out. My customers,
Steve and Ray, were eager to see the topwater action I had told them about. Steve had a blow-up on his second cast.
I got a blow-up on my first and hooked one on my third. Unfortunately the winds increased and were blowing right in
on us. The topwater bite quickly faded. We went to a Roch colored Killer Flats Minnow and picked up several fish.
We ended the day with only eight trout but they were all beasty measuring 18-21 inches.
May 18 Just chillin today as a buddy of mine called around 930 to let me know the
winds had picked up, but one of our hotspots was protected and asked me join him. I said no at first but quickly called
him back. We got out to our spot and he had a blow up on his topwater on about the third cast. Then another and
another. I quickly cut off my soft plastic and joined in. I got a blow-up on my very first cast. He was
the first to strike paydirt as he reeled in a monster. The fish went 26 inches and weighed over 6 lbs. He released
her to do her duties as a mother. 2 hours later when we called
it quits, we had 7 nice fish all over 19 inches in the box. Unfortunately our hook-up ratio was only around 15-20 percent
or we would have had an easy limit of trout. Capt Chris Howard
May 17, 2010 I guess the word got out, there were more boats on the water than Sunday!
Our first stop came up blank and by the time we got to East Bay we were the 13th boat on the reef. We made one pass
catching one 14 inch trout. The next 2 stops were also a bust. I had 2 more spots left in me and as we arrived
at the next one I mentioned that this was a very hot spot last year. My customer said, "maybe history can repeat
itself." We weren't there 2 minutes before it was "ON".
in just three drifts we boxed 2 limits of trout. We didn't have a fish in the cooler at 10am and we were done before
noon!! Limetreuse Trout Killer I did the trick accounting for
the majority of the fish.
May 16, 2010 Well, as luck would have it the weather was beautiful today. We smoked
the trout in East bay while my customers were at the ranch. Oh well, I'll see them again
soon. The fish were hitting good with several double hook-ups.
We found them over shell in 6 - 8 feet of water. Hopefully the weather will hold.
May 14, 2010 After 7 straight days of 20+ mph winds, I decided to check the water for my
afternoon trip today. I found the birds working furiously and wen to check the action. The fish were there and
biting, but the rough seas were just too much. Even though I had a limit of trout in the box, I called my customer and
told hi m to reschedule. Rain is in the forecast for the next
couple of days and I have already canceled Sunday's trip. On a good note, the winds are supposed to lay next week offering
some great days. Capt Chris Howard
